Monique Lhuillier AW 2016 Runway Show

The best wedding gown designers excel at making the most magical day glamorous with the perfect dress. From these roots in translating dreams into fabric reality, Monique Lhuillier has made the every-other-day of your life just as jaw dropping and special with her Fall/Winter 2016 Ready to Wear Collection. When so much of the runway has been water down to denim and sweats, this collection brings back the elegance and sparkle of women’s wear. The collection consisted of fresh  colors, lace and silk brocade, coats, dresses and separates. Each look was adorned with a glittering detail, and my favorite touch was the crystal dotted socks. The collection was over-all modern feminine. There were notes of the glamourous side of the 70s seen in maxi dresses, sleeve shape and fur coats. The show opened with cheerful pieces giving a more casual feel and closed with red carped worthy volume and graceful gowns fit for the silver screen.

The hair was fresh and simple with a center parted natural wavy blow out. We are seeing a lot of the center part this season. For the makeup, it was a nod to the 90’s with a dark lined upper and lower eye, with more muted tones for eyebrows and lip. In total the hair and makeup gave a young contemporary vibe to the decadent collection.

The mood at Shylight at Moynihan Station was excited despite the bitter cold temperatures outside.  Upon entering the venue, I was greeted by a gallery of past Pirelli Calendar images gilding sky-high walls. The vast open lobby gave the perfect impact one would hope for from New York Fashion Week. On the way to the runway, I stopped by in the E! VIP lounge to try a CIROC Vodka cocktail, perfect to take a little bite out of the cold. Once to the runway, the excitement escalated as the crowd grew and celebrities took their places front row, camera flashes flickered on one side of the room, answering with a burst of flashes at the other side. When all became quiet and the show began, the music was upbeat, the models walked with energy and it was over all really fun.

  2. I got married there earlier this year and cannot say enough positive things about the entire experience of working with their manager and the service, food and venue. The coordinators from NYC wedding venues managed my wedding, and were impeccable wedding Angels.
