Backstage at the Marc Jacobs Runway AW 2016

My favorite designer ever since I was in collage has been Marc Jacobs. I will never forget the moment when I first saw his influence on the monogram bags at the Louis Vuitton flagship store on 5th Avenue. The larger hardware and buckles were so beautiful, making the purses feel like jewelry. After following his designs on the runway, I could see that in both clothing and accessories, he brings a fresh chic modernism to vintage inspirations. After designing for LV for over 15 years, he is now focusing on his line Marc Jacobs. This change has brought some of my favorite collections to date, the 2016 Autumn Winter collection being no exception.

First of all, the hair. The finger waves. Finger waves are my favorite hair style and are also one of the most difficult. Every model had the most amazing, perfect 360 finger wave. Gatsby would be jealous to see this flock. There were several different makeup looks, smokey goth eyes, punky stars and a graphic liner. The nails were an elegant black, shiny and perfect, done with Marc Jacobs Blaquer Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Polish

The clothing was show stopping amazing. It felt like something between walking through a fashion museum and an art exhibit. Every piece had gorgeous beaded applique, lace or embroidery. The foot high platform shoes made for a towering forest of coats and dresses gliding by. Lady Gaga walked the show, bringing an extra excitement to the atmosphere. It was Victorian inspired perfection. Now I cant wait to see these pieces in editorials and magazines! It was a magic night to remember and I am so grateful for the experience.
